capoeira Sheffield

OUR TEACHERS

Our group is a real community, with many of our teachers learning and developing their capoeira in Sheffield under the aegis of Mestre Tatanka (Italy) and Mestre Papa-Leguas (Brazil).

CONTRA-MESTRE RAUL

Raul began training Capoeira in 1999 in Essex, England. In 2001 he travelled to Brazil and spent a year dedicated to learning as much as possible, and then wrote a book about his experience. Over subsequent years he travelled frequently around Europe and Brazil, learning from some of the most respected teachers in the world, whilst developing his own training philosophy to make Capoeira as fun and accessible as possible.

"I love the richness of Capoeira. Over the years my passion, interest and motivation has remained as there is always more to explore, and the community is always so giving. Capoeira can a once a week hobby or the basis of a lifetime of adventures"

PROFESSOR NINJA

Keith, started capoeira in 2004 in his first year at university. Ever since then, he has been captivated by the culture, community and physicality of capoeira. He has been a key figure in Capoeira Sheffield for a number of years and dedicated much time to developing the group.

"I like exploring the endless possibilities within capoeira and enjoy the surprise of learning new ideas and movements. Most of all, I love seeing our students progress and enjoying capoeira, something that I learnt from my teacher - Contra-Mestre Tatanka."

INSTRUCTOR GREG

Greg has trained capoeira for many years, choosing to move groups formally in 2018.

"Capoeira has been a massive part of my life since 1999, when I went to my first class at uni. Since then, I've had the great fortune to keep learning, and improving, and now I get to share my great passion with my friends. The community, richness and complexity are like nothing else and being able to help others on their Capoeira journey is a genuine privilege."
